Mavis in Blues and Greens

WOWZA!  I can't believe it is Wednesday already!  I had a blast  yesterday making candles.  I made 12 different scents and I cannot wait to try them out.  You have to let them cure for two weeks so I will be patiently waiting! 

Here is my card for today.  I was digging through my cling stamps and came across Mavis here from My Favorite Things. She seemed to jump out at me. I found the Crate paper in my stash, and the top border is from Jillebean Soup.  For the bottom border I used a strip from my new 6x6 pack of Pink Paislee Hometown Summer.  Sometimes you just have to mix and match it all up!

Well today should be the hottest day so far. Yesterday was a success hiding down in the batcave (basement).  I hope to do some more indoor crafts today!  Happy day, my friends! 

Be Green Mousie

Good morning!  It is going to be another hot one! I see this heatwave extends all across the mid section of the country.  We are not the only ones who are hot!  I feel bad for people without air conditioning. 

How about we move onto something more refreshing like today's card!  That is what this color combination makes me feel--refreshed!  I used the Martha Stewart Border punches to create the little frame. I love the loopies!  I also dug out two old Stampin' Up background stamps (Friend Definition and Canvas). The best part though is coloring in this little guy from Whipper Snapper Designs.

Okay today I am going to be making some candles!  I'm excited to have a project in mind for today and not just putzing on things!  Have a fabulous Tuesday!

 

Catch Up Fishies!

Good morning and happy Monday to you!  I am late today with my post.  I was putzing around with some other things and distracted myself!  LOL!  It is a sauna outside, so I am staying inside in my stamp cave (that's what I  call my basement stamp room when it is hot because it stays cooler down here).

Today's card is made with a Hero Arts set called Oceans of Joy (CL372).  I used this weeks color combination--which I happen to love! I used the Grass Hero Arts Chalk ink with the Stampin' Up Canvas background.

I kept the card real simple because I didn't want to take away from all the sparkle and color of the main image.  I wanted you focused on the cute fishies!

Time for a call!

Good afternoon. I was quite busy this morning and didn't get into my stamp room until a little bit ago. Here is today's card.  This card did not turn out anything like the way it started. I'm still not sure if I like it, but I am determined to do the color combination for the week.  I used Hero Arts stamps: Ancient Motif and Just Saying Hi.  I also grabbed some of that 7 Gypsies (thank you Cindy) paper that I had in my scrap box.  The Seam Binding is dyed with Tim Holtz's Vintage Photo Distress Stain.  And there you have it! 

 It is supposed to get realy hot and humid for the weekend. I'm hoping to come up with some projects indoors to keep me busy!  Enjoy the day!

 

Gossamer

I'm back in the stamp room today. I am quite pleased to show  you the card I just created.  As I mentioned, this weeks color combination is not an easy one for me.  I saw this stamp by Penny Black sitting on my shelf, and I was thinking that I could do something with that. That is exactly where I started. I stamped the flower with Coffee Archival Ink instead of black. I knew I wanted to color the image with my colored pencils and Gamsol so I need to use an Archival Ink.  I dug this patterned paper out of my stash box. I have no idea who it is by. I only had a small scrap left. I sure do love it though especially for this color combination.  I stamped the Cocoa background with a Hero Arts stamp called Circle Pattern using Chocolate Chip ink. I wanted it to stand out a bit. Oh and then my favorite thing about this card. My seam binding ribbon. I dyed it with Tim Holtz's Barn Red Distress ink.  I love how sharp the colors turn out. I had a Ruby Red stripe to also put on my card but the color was not "just right" to match the ribbon. I ran the Distress Stain over the cardstock and look: It matches perfectly!  I was so happy with myself on that one!  LOL!  To top it off, I added two antique buttons up in the corner. I love how this turned out! Happy Wednesday!

A Foxy Hello

Good morning!  Today I am sharing another card using this week's color combo. I can tell you one thing. This color combination is NOT in my comfort zone.

For my main image, I used a Hero Arts stamp called Flower Wood Background (S5142) and then the Fox (E5465).  I popped the fox up with some foam tape to give my card some dimension.

I originally had colored the flowers in and the color seemed to fade into the browns of the wood grain. I decided to try to outline it in black with my Copic Multi-liner (.3). I like how it made the flowers pop out a bit more.  It wasn't hard to do either as one would think.

I added a triple bow in the corner with a button for a bit of extra detail.  I "felt" like the card was finished after I added that!  Enjoy your Tuesday! 

 

Friends for Life

Good morning!  We had some early morning storms here. I am waiting for the rain to pass so I can go out and haul the branches off of the driveway. Right now our driveway is blocked. It was really blowing!  As soon as the bad part of the storm passed, I went right into my stamp room and got busy with the new color combination for the week! This is not a color combination that I would  normally use, but I am all about trying new things this summer!  When I looked at those colors, I thought of nature. Those were the stamps I started thinking about and looking for. I really like that it doesn't look the same as all my "other cards". Know what I mean?

Castle Penguin!

Good morning!  On Thursdays for my on-line class I get sketches. So that was my focus for today's card along with using the color combination for this week.  I also came upon some new digital images from Whimsy Doodles that I had to have!  It's always fun to play with the old and the new. I found some scrap strips of patterned paper in my stash and then I cut the orange polka dot from the new Echo Park paper that I have. Coloring these images are so darn much fun. It's a perfect day for this little penguin to spend at the beach!

Smile, Laugh, Giggle

Good morning!  I am very excited to share this card with you today.  I had a "lightbulb moment" when I couldn't find the EXACT patterned paper that I wanted yesterday for this week's color combination. DUH!  Make your own background like we did back in the old days of stamping!  We have grown very accustomed to grabbing that pretty patterned paper nowadays!  So that is exactly what I did on this card. I used a number of Hero Arts stamps to make the backgound. I will list the supplies at the end.  Then I had that green polka dot piece of patterned paper sitting on my desk.  It missed my hands when I was throwing out little pieces. LOOK! I used it!  PERFECT!  I hope you like my card today!

Oh Happy Day!

I  started this card this morning, and I ended up getting distracted with cleaning out some things. I thought it might be nice to organize a couple of my lines of paper by color. Well that turned into a few hours of work, and I'm not sure I really like creating using the color combination to start with. I think I prefer to pick some patterned paper that I like and then go from there.  But it's fun to try new things. So here is my card today. It is using a Lili of the Valley stamp.  I treated myself to 6 of their new stamps! 

Now I am heading outside to get a little sunshine before I get any more bright ideas about cleaning things out! LOL!
