I have a very special post today. This post is for my friend Maria. In fact, this page is for her. Maria has MS and has recently went through a very difficult time with this awful disease. When she has a flare up with her MS, her doctor usually treats her with steroids through an IV. Well, recently, she had a flare-up and her regular doctor was out of town. The doctor that was filling in for him, would not give her the steroids that she needed. Well needless to say, that was a mistake. Maria lost most of the use of her hand and ended up having a very hard time walking. We were so worried that she would have permanent damage in her hand. It was her stamping hand too! I could just cry telling you this all.
Maria is one of the most amazing people I have ever known. She doesn't complain about this awful disease. She takes it all in stride and just keeps right on living. Well this last flare-up was the worst she has ever gone through. I talked to her one day on the phone and I could just hear how down she was through her voice. I have never heard her sound down at all even though she has had many roadblocks in her way before. Maria is a fighter and has always refused this MS to get the best of her. Maria is a true inspiration to me. You've heard me talk about my arthritis. I know first hand how chronic pain can wear your spirits down. This just broke my heart watching Maria have to go through this.
Well Maria found a wonderful therapist that sounded Heaven sent to me. She helped Maria strengthen her hand and get some of the use back from it. All of us friends, did some top secret work. We got busy on making pages, we chipped in money, we sent cards, and we prayed HARD for our dear friend. This is my page for Maria. It is a bit late, but I had to have time to make it extra special for her because she is extra special to me. Maria, you will always always always be an inspiration to me. You are one amazing person and you do not deserve this. I am always so proud of your attitude and your fight. You soar right on through this life. I love you!
