Hiya Kids! One thing you may not know about me is that I think EXERCISE IS VERY IMPORTANT in our lives. Just about 2 years ago, I made a New Year's Resolution to exercise 3-5 times a week. When I made the resolution, I committed to exercising for a FULL YEAR! Yes, a full year! And I was not going to stop at any less. Well I have a strong will (some say I'm stubborn), and that is exactly what I did. I exercised for a full year and kept going! My reasoning was that if you do something long enough, it becomes habit, right? So I figured that if I exercised for a full year, it would be a lifestyle change that I wanted to make. I'm very proud of my accomplishments in the exercising world over the last two years. I only stopped when I started having knee problems. I ended up having knee surgery (torn meniscus) this last summer. After surgery, I started rehabbing my knee on my exercise bike. I have stuck to it like clockwork. I start over each week on Sundays and that has really made a difference. I set goals for the week and stick to it as best as I can. Whether I succeed or fail at those goals, I start over each week. I never quit because of this. I log how long I exercise, what I do, and the total distance I go. So this is where my above project comes into play. I've been keeping track on a spreadsheet on plain, boring white paper. I decided this year, I need something special to log my time and miles.
Exercise is very important to me for a few reasons. One, my dad has had heart problems the last 15 or so years. It's a genetic thing, and I want to take care of my heart. Second, exercise gets all of those endorphins going and makes you a happier person. Third, and the biggest reason is that I have Psoriatic Arthritis (which is comparable to Rheumatoid arthritis). I live with chronic pain every single day. I don't think of myself as any different than anyone else. We all have our trials in life, but I'm here to tell you that EXERCISE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I believe in that whole heartedly.
So if you decide to make a New Year's resolution to exercise more this year, I hope you can be inspired by my story. The motivation I have to exercise touches my heart. I know how hard I have worked over the last two years, and you can bet I will be continuing on!
