Letters to a friend

Good morning and welcome to the Sunday post! In 29 more minutes, I wouldn't be able to say that!  LOL!  I have had a some e-mails wondering where I am and worrying about me. That was so sweet to hear from some of you. I am okay.  I have been having some trouble with my arthritis for the last two months at least. I had cortizone shots in October and November. Although, the cortizone shots have helped, it still hasn't taken away the other pains. Those just deal with the extreme pains. 

We all know this time of the year is a busy time of the year!  I have had to cut back on a lot of things. It takes me more time to do the every day normal kind of stuff.  It can be frustrating at times, but I am determined to have a positive outlook on things. There is no other way to live your life.  I'm also taking time to take care of myself and not worry about the little things any more.  So if you don't hear from me a lot, just know I'm smiling away and taking care of myself! 

Another thing I have been focusing on is sending out Christmas cards. I was so determined this year to make and send out cards. It has a completely different meaning for me this year. I can still do it.  If you know me, you know stamping is my passion. Some days it is extremely difficult for me to stamp.  BUT, I can still do it.  I have a long list of people to send cards, and I'm still working frantically at it. I am sure I won't be able to get everyone, but I am happy with my progress to this point. 

I made this card up last weekend when I was feeling like getting down and dirty with my stamps.  I used an old Inque Boutique set (the company is now out of business).  I love how this turned out. It reminds me of my dad and his postage stamp collecting days!

Good morning and welcome to the Sunday Post. I know I've been absent for a little bit.  Things sure get busy this time of the year! I need more time for stamping! 

Yesterday, I was putzing around in my stamp shop and not having much luck. That is very frustrating to me, when I finally have time to stamp and things aren't working out. One thing I've learned about creativity is not to push yourself. When you are in a slump, change gears. Maybe a different style will inspire you.

So that is just what I did yesterday afternoon. I changed gears. First, I made up a ton of tags with my distressed inks and water misters.  Then I dug out some old stamps from Inque Boutique (this company was sold and no longer in business). Once I started I couldn't stop. I was having so much fun creating vintage cards. This one is my favorite one. I love the colors on it! 

I really love making vintage cards, but I have to be in the right mood. Apparently, I had the right mood for that. I'm glad I stumbled across that because I was getting really frustrated at first!

Snow Happy

Good Monday morning! Are you ready for this back to reality stuff? I was dead tired when the ol' alarm went off, but now I'm feeling ready to start the new week!  I love my job and that helps!  I am sharing yet another card that I made with the cute as can be Eat Cake Designs from Paper Garden.  I adore these little kids that are playing out in the snow. I think the artist really captured the innocence of kids!  I also like that I have been using up scraps of my Christmas/holiday paper from last year. I have a ton. It feels good to use up the leftovers especially because I love this paper from Heidi Grace! The colors make me happy! 

Okay, bloggers, I'm going to grab my 2nd cup of coffee and make it a great morning! I am ready to go people! Ready to go!

Let's play snow!

Good morning! I realize that it is Sunday, but I don't have a regular Sunday Post for you today. We just arrived home yesterday from our Thanksgiving trip.  It is always so nice to come home, sleep in your own bed, and just enjoy some quiet time after a busy holiday! I wanted to get a post on my blog for today seeing as I have been absent for a few days. I hope you enjoy today's card! 

I am absolutely in love with my new Eat Cake stamps from Paper Garden! They are so cute and dainty, and I've really been enjoying them!  I also have Winter Wonderland Friends and Winter Wonderland. They are all SNOW MUCH FUN! LOL!

Today we will be getting ahead on some of our holiday decorating. I cannot believe Thanksgiving is over! You always know how fast the next few weeks go!  I can't believe we will be getting ready for Christmas now! 

Plum Purdy Santa

Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving Eve Day!  I'm up early and ready to start my day.  I am looking forward to spending some time with family.  I am super excited to see my daughter who has been away at college.

I couldn't decide what to share with you this morning! I have so many projects lined up to share!  I decided to go with this card.  A very good friend of mine sent me some images from a company called Plum Purdy.  I really think this one is rather unique. I love how Santa's beard has a snowman in it. It just gives thewhole image a fun feel.  The layout on my card is rather simple so that I didn't pull away from this image.  It is all about the coloring folks!  I added a little sparkle to it and shazam!

Okay, I'm off to get some coffee brewing! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I will be away for a few days. Enjoy the holiday!

Snow Angel

Good morning and Happy Monday! I'm feeling pretty good about starting the week today because I only have a two-day work week!  So it's really like  Monday-Thursday today!  I cannot complain about that!  Not to mention that I had a really good weekend!  I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter this week who has been away at college.  Ahhh. . . I think it's going to be a good week!

Now onto my card for the day!  I am using scraps from last year!  I love it!  This paper is from We R Memory Keepers. This was their whitewash collection last year. I loved it and used it a lot! I'm surprised I have any left at all! Do you remember making snow angels as a kid?  It was so amazing that you could create something that actually looked like an angel just by laying in the snow and rubbing your arms and legs back and forth! 

Okay, I'm off to get my cup of coffee!  Keep smiling! 

Lighthouse

Good afternoon and welcome to the Sunday Post.  I know I'm a bit late today, but that is just how it goes some days!  I have had a really fun weekend so far, and I'm crossing things off my list today!  That feels good.

Yesterday I ran over to the Madison Stamp and Scrap show that was in town. I wasn't going to go, because really I don't need a thing!  I decided to go for a short time any how!  I was glad to see Our Daily Bread Designs at the show for the first time this year! I have wanted this stamp set called Keep My Light Burning for a long time.  I had to grab it while I was there.  The owners are very nice people, too! 

So here is the card I just made up with it. I have always been mesmerized by Lighthouses.  We have even gone out of our way to visit certain lighthouses in Wisconsin. I find them so mysterious.  My favorite lighthouse is the Cana Island Lighthouse in Door County. Many lighthouses have a lot of history that goes right along with them.  If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by!

Sledding in the Winter Wonderland!

Good morning! Rise and Shine!  It's Saturday morning, and time to get up and have some fun! There is just nothing better than a Saturday morning!  If you know me, you know that my very favorite color combination is represented in this card. It is such a refreshing combo if you ask me!  I LOVE IT!  This stamp is another one from Paper Garden. These kiddies have so much fun in the snow!  That's what I love best about them! And look at the fun little hat the girl is wearing!  I used a piece of scrap paper from my box. I've been trying to use up some of these pieces. I happened to have the patterned paper next to a piece of Tempting Turquoise and I thought, "wow that is bold!"  I went with it!  This layout is very super easy!   The whole card is about COLOR! Enjoy! 

Winter Hussle and Bussle

Hello bloggers!  I'm snickering away right now. I just balanced my checkbook and then went right to writing this post. I was thinking that Kitty better have balanced her checkbook before she went out shopping!  Look at all of those purchases!  I hope she has my name on her Christmas list!

For this card I decided to paper pierce the shopping bags with the same paper as the background (Fancy Pants).  This paper is so wild that you can't really tell it's the same paper, but you can tell that it coordinates VERY WELL!  I love how the Stickles glitter glue really pops on her hat and sweater!  It really gives the card a fun feel!  This little kitty is stylin'! 

I've really been making a lot of square cards lately. I kind of like them!  I know I will have to pay more postage on them, but I think the recipients will certainly smile when they open them up!

Wintertime fun!

Wake up! Wake up!  It is Thursday already and we are plugging along through the week!  I love to get closer to the weekend! How about you?  These cute stamps from Paper Garden caught my eye, and they reminded me of playing outside in the snow when I was a kid!  Oh man did we have fun. We would play until our mittens were soaked right through, and we just couldn't play any more!  Okay I have a confession to make. I still like to play outside in the snow. I love building snow forts! 

These two kids look like they are engaged in a snowball fight!  This patterned paper is from my stash last year. This was my favorite paper last year. It is by Heidi Grace, and I loved the colors. It goes perfectly with my new kid stamps from Paper Garden. You'll be seeing more of these cards during the next week. I hope you like them!
